Organic Electroluminescent (EL) is the electrically driven emission of light fromcrystalline organic materials, Organic photovoltaic cells are the devices that can translate theoptical energy into electric energy. Organic materials have become an important subject inthe photoelectron field, because the electroluminescent devices and photovoltaic cells thatare made of organic materials have the characteristics of low cost, simple for techniques, andeasy for large scale comparing of inorganic materials. Now the organic materials which weuse to made electroluminescent devices and photovoltaic cells can be divided in to twogroups, namely small molecules and polymeric materials. Rare earth (RE) complexes showthe characteristics of sharp-band emissions, high efficiencies which can reach 100% intheory and no influence on the emissions color of the central rare earth metal ion with thedesign of ligands. So organic materials have become a new research hotspot in thephotoelectron field and attached importance by chemistry, optics, materials and the relatedscience realm extensively. In this paper we have designed and synthesized 3 novel europium complexes, whichdoped it into PVK as the light-emitting layers to make EL devices, EL properties weremeasured. The mechanism of energy transfer in the doped system was discussed,Simultaneously, the m-MTDATA as electron-donor and the europium complex aselectron-acceptor were fabricated organic photovoltaic devices. The photocurrent of thesedevices were observed; In this paper we also tried to synthesize some small molecule withcomplicated structure, expected to gain some new metal complexes with electron-transportand host-transport moieties.
