Floatation is traditionally air-floatation. A new approach of floatation (namely oil-flotation)using oil droplets as floatation agent has been brought forward in this thesis. Higee force has beenintroduced into the oil-flotation. Extension and classification of floatation has been made with theextension of the continuous phase, flotation particles and flotation agents. A new concept of sinkingseparation has been put forward according to the existence of the sinking of the aggregation offloatation agents and flotation particles.The models of floatation and sinking have been developed in this dissertation. Based on thefloatation and sinking of the aggregation of floatation agents and flotation solids, the condition ofthe flotation and sinking separation processes has been analyzed. The requisition on the choice offloatation agent has been obtained for various working conditions. The force of resisting water is akey factor, which lead the un-collision aggregation of solid particles and oil droplets. The collisionaggregation models in radial and tangential directions in higee or vortex field have been developedand analyzed. Aggregation of oil droplets and solid particles can been broken up by centrifugalforce, shear stress and turbulent. The effective minimal and maximal diameters of solids to beseparated with the oil floatation in higee or vortex field have been analyzed.The influence of operation and feed characteristics on the oil-flotation has been studiedthrough oil-floatation experimentation in higee or vortex field. The influence of the ratio of size andconcentration of solids to oil droplets and the feed flowrate on the oil-flotation efficiency isprominent.When (d_p/d_o)<1, the ratio of size of solids to oil droplets has weak influence on the oil-flotationefficiency. According to theoretical analysis and oil-flotation experimentation, however, it can beendeduce that the processe of oil-flotation should be the model â…¡. On this experimentationconditions, the effective minimal size of solids is about 120um, corresponding to the size ratio ofsolids to oil droplets being greater than 14. The effective maximal diameter of solids is greater than300um.There exist optimum values of Rei(445189), the ratio of concentration of solids to oildroplets(0.02) and overflow ratio(0.05), at which the oil-flotation efficiency peaked. When theoverflow ratio increased, the concentration multiples falls gradually.With the increase of the density of oil, the oil-flotation efficiency falls. With the increase offeed temperature, the oil-flotation efficiency shows a tendency to increasing.
