Quinoline anti-coccidial drug is one kind of anti-coccidial drugs. It has been studied for a long time, and has a better effect than other counterparts. Several drugs have been added into fertilizers to prevent and cure coccidiosis by now. As one member of quinoline anti-coccidiosis drugs, decoquinate has higher chemical reactivity and lower toxicity than other anti-coccidial drugs. For this reason, it is still popular. Lots of decoquinate containing drugs were certified by American FDA test.Ethyl 6-n-decyloxy-7-ethoxy-4-hydroxyquinoline -3- carboxylate bears the highest reactivity in decoquinate anti-coccidial drugs. In our research, we focus on the synthesis of Ethyl 6-n-decyloxy-7-ethoxy-4-hydroxyquinoline -3- carboxylate. Mainly two synthetic routes have been reported in former references. We choose 4-n-decyloxy-3-ethoxyaniline as the intermediate to react with diethyl ethoxymethylenemalonate, and then get the resulting product. As for the intermediate, we choose the 1,2-dihydroxybenzene as the starter.1,2-dihydroxybenzene goes through O-alkylization, azonization, O-alkylizaiton, catalyzed hydrogen addition reaction. The total yield is 34.8%.
