Internal circulation anaerobic reactor is a patent technique that was opened out by PAQUES corporation in the middle of 80's ,the internal research on it begin in late 90's which mostly focused on the treatment of easy degrading wastewater and was short of guidance in systemic theories and scientific modeling ideas .The core technic of IC is using the upgrading function of marsh gas to form internal circulation which can intensify sending qualities and simultaneously improve radicel qualities degradation.AS one of the third era high rate anaerobic reactors ,IC also has some outstanding characteristics such as high efficiency,space saving and low cost ,etc.The fundamental structure and the working principle of the IC reactor were briefly introduced. The design technic ideas of IC reactor were further discussed from three new angle as hydraulic retain time and solid retain time,hydraulic flow state and aggregating state of animalcule , broke through the routine which anaerobic reactors must be satisfied with two postulate (1. retain much alive sludge 2. better sending qualities) ,and stood out the core technique internal circulation.The research made the test of homemade IC reactor's starting and running with the water composed by manpower glucose, studied the state,effect and affecting factors and observed the changes of granular sludge in the end of test .The experimental results showed that :â‘ In the condition that keeping the COD removal is above 85% ,the least hydraulic retain time is 9.6h and the most volumetric loading rate can reach 27.74 kgCOD/(m3.d).Combined with the analysis of organic matter's removal rate in the first startup, we can conclude that IC reactor is comparatively suitable to teat such wastewater as the low COD concentration of 2000-3000 mg/L and high concentration of above 2000-3000 mg/L.â‘¡In low concentration ,the removal of COD mostly is because of the specific structure design of three-phase separator which can successfully separate hydraulic retain time with solid retain time and assure remaining enough sludge at the high up-flow speed ,but the internal circulation isn't the dominant factor. While high concentration ,it is because the special design of internal circulation which can bring better sending qualities.
