As the input data, influent fractions are of great importance to steady and dynamic modelling with ASM. Based on different principles, researchers at home and abroad have proposed many assessment methods for COD fractions in last decades. However, many methods are relatively complicated and can not be applied to WWTP.This paper studies the major organic ingredients in urban wastewater including protein, carbohydrate and lipid to perfect the input data of wastewater treatment mathematical model. First, this paper tries to find some basic rules from their different influences on water quality characteristic parameter. Second, this paper studies the complex ingredient and draws an important conclusion that the S_S content equal to COD_B brought by hydrolysates with small molecule, and X_S content equal to COD_B brought by matters with macromolecule. Third, by theoretic deduction and experimental testification the rules among the inert ingredients of COD are invetigated. Finally, the developed model is testified by several urban wastewater in different areas including urban wastewater in Tongji Xincun and influent of Quyang WWTP.The model is applied to analyze the influent water quality of Tongji Xincun and Quyang WWTP. The test result indicates that the model can be used to simulate the municipal wastewater and the relative error is less than 20%.It is a beneficial attempt discriminate the organic ingredient including protein, carbohydrate and lipid according to the water quality characteristic parameter division method, which provides one brand-new method to the water quality characteristic parameter determination in ASM model. On the other hand, this investigation will be helpful to improve the existing method, which will make the component determination method more stable, quick, and accurate. It will promote the ASM mathematical model to serve the production and practiced application.
