Treatment of monosodium glutamate wastewater with Acidophilus yeast were carried out. Effects of conditions, such as dilution ratio, pH value, rotation speed, the concentration ofammonium-sulphate and glucose, on treatment efficiency was investigated. It was showed that the highest biomass 8—16 g·L-1 , and COD removal efficiency of 80.2%, were respectively obtained with 5-dilution wastewater, at pH 3.5, 250 r ·min-1 for 20 h. On the other hand, high contents of ammonium sulphate restrained and supplemented glucose enhanced the growth and ability of biodegradation of Acidophilus yeast.Facing the serious situation of the global water resource pollution and water crisis, the study on the utility of monosodium glutamate wastewater by microorganism and the recycle of the monosodium glutamate wastewater resource was paid more and more attention.On the basis of the characters of monosodium glutamate wastewater, the work of the eminent yeast selection was carried out and finally an eminent strain of yeast with high adaptability of low pH and strong biodegradability of monosodium glutamate wastewater was selected. The experiment of the yeast cultivation and environmental condition was investigated. The chroma pollution of wastewater was not ignored yet. The eminent yeast selection and optimization were carried out by repeatedly changing the components of medium. The selected eminent yeast had high adaptability of low pH, strong biodegradability and good genetic stability, compared with, it showed advantage over the reported yeasts with strong endurance of high COD content, short culture time and high biotransformation efficiency.The research cultivating yeast in wastewater was carried out. The percentage of wastewater, loading of wastewater, initial pH of wastewater, temperature, rotation speed, inoculation size, and inoculation time of yeast were studied.
