Poly(phthalazinone ether sulfone ketone)(PPESK), a novel Poly(aryl ether sulfone ketone) with outstanding colligate performances, has been exploited in recent years. It has the best thermal resistance and solubility, which is favorable for competition in international markets. However, the pure resin PPESK shows some shortcoming in tribological property with the higher friction coefficient and wear rate, all of these characteristics limit its applications in the area of wearable composites. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the friction and wear performance of PPESK to broaden its usage. In this paper, a series of composites were prepared with solid lubricant (Gr), potassium titanate whiskers (PTW) and SiC as fillers. And the tribological and mechanical behavior of composites has been studied. Meanwhile, the friction and wear mechanism of composites has also been discussed.A group of PPESK/PTW/Gr composites were prepared by the way of blending and molding compression. The mechanical and tribological properties were tested. The worn surface and tribological mechanism were investigated by means of SEM. The results showed that PTW and Gr sharply reduced the friction coefficient and wear rate. The friction coefficient could reduce to one third of PPESK and the wear rate could decrease to one percent of PPESK. The synergism of PTW and Gr has been found in the experiment, as the ratio of PTW and graphite increased to 3/1, the wear rate fell to the least value. And the SEM indicated that the wear mechanisms are mainly abrasive wear and adhesive wear including light fatigue wear.The micron SiC was filled in the PPESK to make PPESK/SiC composites. And the rigidity , impact strength, flexural strength and tribological performance of composites have been researched. The experiment results indicated that compared to pure PPESK, the tribological performance of PPESK/SiC composites has been advanced, and the rigidity was elevated as the adding of filler. But the mechanical behavior of composites had a little falling. The wear manner of PPESK/SiC composites were mostly particle abrasion.PPESK/ SiC/ Gr composites have been prepared by PPESK, Gr and micron SiC. The thermal stabilities were studied by TGA, and the other similar properties were also tested. Through analyzing the results, it was found that the inorganic fillers have not reduced the 5% weight loss temperatures of composites, and the thermal resistance has been improved by contrary. The friction and wear behavior has been enhanced in some degree. And in the process of improvement of properties, Gr and SiC has exerted a better synergism, and thewear mechanism of PPESK/SiC/Gr composites was mostly particle abrasion. The tribological behaviors of PPESK/PTFE/MoS2Composites have been studied simply. PTFE can decreased the friction coefficient and wear rate of pure PPESK, the wear mechanism was mainly adhesive wear.
