Some improvements are made to the problems of contamination of electrodes, delamination of the fillers and low removal of organic contamination of bipolar granulated bed cell in the treatment of organic waste water. For the bipolar packed bed cell(BPBC), sulphonated coal, fruit hull, plastic of PVC, and old plastic in recovery, four kinds of sloth fillers which densities are equal to activated carbon are used to substitute quartz sand which are applied in project. The capability of the reactor in the treatment of organic contamination was discussed. For the bipolar fluid bed cell, ferrous was added to the solution. The improvement of the treatment of organic contamination was discussed.P-nitro-phenol was selected as targeted organic contamination. For the improved BPBC, in COD removal efficiency of BPBC filled with different sloth fillers, there was an ascending sequence of the one filled with sulphonated coal(40%), the one filled with fruit hull(39%), the one filled with old plastic(35%), the one filled with quartz sand(33%) and the one filled with PVC plastic(27%). In regeneration ratio, there was an ascending sequence of the one filled with fruit hull(0.99), the one filled with sulphonated coal(0.84), the one filled with PVC plastic(0.79), the one filled with quartz sand(0.76) and the one filled with old plastic(0.66). In energy consumption of the removal of unit COD, there was an ascending sequence of the one filled with PVC plastic(400kWh), the one filled with fruit hull(369kWh), the one filled with quartz sand(309kWh), the one filled with old plastic(308kWh) and the one filled with sulphonated coal(270kWh). In current efficiency, there was an ascending sequence of the one filled with sulphonated coal(37%), the one filled with quartz sand(33%), the one filled with old plastic(33%), the one filled with fruit hull(27%) and the one filled with PVC plastic(25%).In the treatment of papermaking wastewater, the COD removal of the BPBC filled with sulphonated coal is equal to the ones of the BPBC filled with quartz sand. But the energy consumption of the former is lower, and the current efficiency is high.P-nitro-phenol was selected as targeted organic contamination. For the improved bipolar fluid bed cell, there are better results in removal efficiency of PNP, removal efficiency of COD, energy consumption, current efficiency and biodegradability of treated-water of bipolar fluid bed cell with liquid-phase catalysis to traditional bipolar fluid bed cell. When pH=3.0, cell voltage 30V, ferrous concentration 500mg·L-1, airflow 0.4m3·h-1, the PNP removal is above 90% and the COD removal is 70%.
