The valuation of the ecosystem services is essential for human society and economy and environment huamonious development. It is also helpful for people to realize the large value that exsists in ecosystem and arouse the idea of the invironment protection. Using the conventional market and surrogate market and created market approaches that based on the economic theories, the service value and damage value and restoring cost of the grassland ecosystem in Maqu country were estimated. The main results as fallowing:The service value of Maqu grassland ecosystem was 28×108RMB to 87×108RMB per year. It was about 8 times to 24 times of local GDP in 2004. The result showed that local development was at the price of the grassland damage, so high cost of the environment is the critical factor that caused the degradation of local grassland ecosytem. The damage value of Mauq grassland ecosystem was 7.06×108RMB to18×108RMB per year. According to the flux in Mauq Yellow River accounts for the whole flux rate and the length of Yellow River in Maqu accounts for the whole length rate (the rate of flux and length is the contribution rate to the enocomy damage), its reliability was tested. If we assumed that the grassland of Maqu to be restored needs 10 years, then the total restoring cost is 3.53×10~8RMB, including 0.21×10~8RMB WTP, about 6 percent, and 3.32 × 10~8RMB WTA, about 94 percent. At the same time, if we regard that the whole overloading livestock (over the grassland carrying capacity) of Maqu grassland needs 4 years to be washed out. Then the first 4 years cost is 3.4 × 10~8RMB, composed of 3.32 × 10~8RMB WTA and 0.08 × 10~8RMB WTP, While the late 6 years is 0.126 × 10~8RMB ,but only WTP. This suggests that the restoring of Maqu grassland mainly depends on the nature resilience by cutting down over livestock.
