Wetland is one of the most productive ecosystems, known as the "kidney of the earth" because of its rich resources and unique ecological structure and functions. However, due to human activities and environmental changes, wetlands are under serious threat worldwide.Wetland protection plays an irreplaceable role in maintaining local biodiversity, maintaining ecological balance, ensuring the harmonious development of human and nature, and promoting the stable growth of regional economy.Alpine wetland occupies a special and important position in the study of global change, the analysis of people’s ecological perception and the willingness to protect of wetland provides a scientific basis and reference for the public to participate in environmental protection and scientific management and allocation of wetland resources to a certain extent. Therefore, this paper takes the Wetland of first meander of Yellow River in Gansu Province as the research area, obtains data through questionnaire survey based on the hypothetical market, and adopts analytical methods such as the Conditional Valuation Method(CVM),multiple linear regression model,Heckman two-stage model and binary Logisitic model. This paper analyzed residents’ perception of wetland degradation, explored its influencing factors from different characteristics, and analyzed residents’ willingness to pay for labour and willingness to accept compensation for participating in wetland ecological protection and restoration, and explored factors affecting residents’ perception and participation in conservation and restoration based on local conditions,so as to improve people’s attention to wetland resources and awareness level of wetland protection, and provide theoretical support for scientific formulation of wetland protection and restoration management policies in the Wetland of first meander of Yellow River. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Different wetland ecosystem services were of different importance to local residents, and the most important was animal husbandry services.92.16% of the residents perceived wetland changes and were more concerned about degradation than those who did not perceive wetland changes. The closer the relationship between life and wetland was,the more residents perceived wetland degradation.According to residents’ perception of the causes of wetland degradation, natural factors were the main causes of wetland degradation, while human factors had little influence.(2)Residents’ perception of wetland degradation is influenced by multiple factors. The number of livestock per capita was an important influencing factor. The more livestock the residents have, the more they perceive the degree of wetland degradation. In addition, occupation and grassland area per capita also influenced residents’ perception of wetland degradation.(3)96.73% of the residents believed that it was necessary to restore the wetland of first meander of Yellow River, they combined their own interests and perceptions when making responses and choosing preferences. The residents were very protective, and the rate of residents’ willingness to pay(WTP)for labor reached 89.54%,and the average WTP level was 5.4h per week. The willingness to pay for labor were affected by family characteristics and cognitive characteristics: whether to graze in wetland, the degree of concern about wetland degradation, and the degree of being affected by wetland degradation are significantly correlated with residents’ WTP.The labor payment level was mainly affected by residence location, concern degree of wetland degradation, cognition of ecosystem services and impact degree of wetland degradation.(4)The proportion of residents who did not have the willingness to accept compensation(WTA)was far below WTP,and the rate of the WTA was as low as 37.91%.The minimum willingness of households to acceot compensation was 14.09 yuan per year. The main driving factors of residents’ WTA were age, education level, annual household income and grassland area.
