Cobalt powder has excellent physics, chemistry and mechanism capability, its application very abroad. Cobalt powder also is one important part for form cobalt product. The cobalt develop direction of inside and outside including ultrafine cobalt powder and nano-cobalt powder, high density cobalt powder and sphericity cobalt powder, pure cobalt powder. Nano-science and technology is one 21 century science and technology develop direction, ultrafine cobalt powder and nano-cobalt powder deputy the develop direction of cobalt product. So the preparation and application of ultrafine cobalt is the emphases of investigation. At present the preparation method in our country are comparatively complex and cost much energy, cost comparatively high and the granularity of cobalt powder is wide, can not perfectly embodiment the excellent capability. This paper using innovative and especial polyhydric alcohol revert method, One-step revivification preparation cobalt in liquid was first time come true. Study the condition and the best technique of preparation cobalt powder.Emphases studied the preparation technique of Neotype ultrafine cobalt powder and the effect of dispersants on properties. The ultrafine cobalt powder were synthesized by taking self made Co (OH)2 as the raw material ,glycol and 1,2 propylene glycol as reducer and add different kind surfactants. By explore and correctitude examination, find out best preparation method condition and The spherical, monodispersed, ultrafine cobalt powder with a face centered cubic structure and a size less than 1um were synthesized. The size and shape, crystal structure, content of oxygen and pure of cobalt were tested by scanning electron microscope and the X-ray diffraction.As the result showing, the add quantity of reagent and the time and reaction temperature were have evidence influence to the capability ultrafine cobalt. From observe the size and shape of cobalt, the kinds and add quantity of surfactant were the main influence factor;the choice of reducing agent was the key factor;reaction time, reaction temperature were the root factor of crystal growing bigger. But the influence of Co (OH)2 prepared by different cobalt salt was not big.In conclusion, that ultrafine cobalt powder is more pure, more thin , more symmetrical and spherical than other preparation process by polyols reduction , there is more raw materials to be used , more simple preparation technics , cobalt size and shape can be controlled than other preparation process by polyols reduction .If it is used for industrial production ,there will be researched and explored in technology parameters and condition of granularity controlling .
