As a major polluter, sulfur dioxide has been paid more and more attention for its toxic effect. Specially, there is heavy sulfur dioxide polluting problem in ShanXi, which urgency us to investigate its toxic effect. For about a decade, our lab has been in engage in the research of toxicology effect of sulfur dioxide, and we found that it can affect not only the issue of long but also the whole body. In this research, we investigate the effect of sulfur dioxide on the isolated aortic rings of rats, and its potential harm on the cardio-vascular system.1. The Study of Vasodilatory Effect and Mechanism of SO2 Derivates on the Aortic Rings in RatsThe effects of SO2 derivatives on isometric force of isolated rat aorta rings were observed using the ring tensions recording method; and the content of NO was examined using method of nitric acid reductase. The results showed that: â‘ Relaxant effects on thoracic aorta with or without endothelium were observed at each concentration of SO2 derivatives. Additionally, the tensility changes on thoracic aorta with or without endothelium were no significant differences at each concentration. â‘¡ After the isolated rat aorta rings in rats were stimulated by the different concentrations of SO2 derivatives, the contents of NO in them were no significant differences at different concentrations. In a word, the present study suggested that SO2 derivatives exert vasodilatory effects on the tensilities of rats' thoracic aorta rings. In addition, it was further demonstrated that the tensility effects of SO2 derivatives on rats' thoracic aorta rings were not dependent on endothelium, which had nothing to do...
