Western oil transferring pipeline is another large-scale pipeline project after west-east gas transferring pipeline, so it's imperative to be high-quality, high-tech, high-capability and highly stable for its construction with reasonable route and convenient management system, ensuring its smooth operation without any failure.Traditional survey techniques and methods are increasingly difficult to meet the demand of modern pipeline management and safe operation. Digitalization of pipeline, managing pipeline in digit and information, will guarantee safe and efficient construction of pipeline, realize scientific, safe and standardized operation, and provide support for decision-making as well. To acquire basic digital information of pipeline is dependent of such technical means as GPS, air survey and remote sensing, so integration of remote sensing, digital photographic survey and GPS has dominated large-scale and large-area survey, not only providing rich 4D products, but also providing designer a visualized fictitious technique and 3D real view. The application of such technique to survey of western oil transferring pipeline plays important role for optimization of design plan and accuracy of main design object.With study on the survey technique for the pilot section of Yumen-Sandan pipeline, techniques of digital photographic survey, remote sensing and GPS has been successfully used in western oil transferring pipeline, resulting in successful digital route selection and digital survey and mapping, preliminarily getting the geological information along the route, reasonably choosing the accurate position of crossings and over-crossings and improving the quality of route selection, so that the route was more reasonable and large amount of investment was saved. At the same time, with the application of techniques of digital photographic survey, remote sensing and GPS, their respective advantages were fully put into play and the method of improving the accuracy of GPS control net of route was summarized,...
