As a new nanoscale material with many unique chemical and physical properties, carbon nanotubes(CNT) are of great interest for many potential applications in various fields. On the other hand, electronically conducting polymers have also attracted much attention for their easy-shaped and light-density prosperities, abundant species resource and some semi-conductive specialties, such as photoconduction, electroluminescence and nonlinear optical characterizations.Polyphenylacetylene(PPA) is prepared with anhydrous AlCl3 as catalyst, and sulfonated by concentrated H2SO4 for sulfonated PPA.CNT are thermally treated or acidified by hydrochloric acid or nitric acid. The as-prepared PPA or sulfonated PPA is dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (THF) ,then various mass of CNT treated by different methods are added to get mixed solution. The mixed solutions are sonicated and dried to get PPA/CNT or sulfonated PPA /CNT composites, which are tested about conductive performance and characterized about crystal structure and morphology by XRD and SEM.The results of conductive performance testing suggest that the conductivity of SPPA have a increasing of two magnitude grade at room temperature than PPA. Both of composites increase with increasing of the ratio of CNT. The percolation threshold of sulfonated PPA/CNT is 1% less than that of PPA/CNT, the amount of CNT added to SPPA for obtaining the maximum conductivity is about 10% of that of the PPA. A relevant formulation is given to describe the relation between the conductivity and the mass percent of CNT.The relations between temperature and conductivity of two kinds of composites suggest that the factors affecting the resistance of composites alter below, at and above the mass percent of CNT of percolation threshold when temperature changes.By comparing of XRD results of as-prepared sulfonated PPA,CNT and sulfonated PPA /CNT, we think there is new crystal structure of sulfonated PPA appear at the interface of CNT.
