Cerium (Ce) modified nano-TiO2 film electrodes Ce(x%)-TiO2 (x=0, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 100) were prepared on ITO conducive glass substrate by powder loading technique. When x=5, no new phase can be found on XRD diagram while when x=10, the phase of CeO2 appears. TEM indicates that the particle diameters of the prepared samples are in nanometer scale. With the introduction of cerium, the light absorption band edge of the samples has obvious red shift and the extent is larger when more cerium is introduced; in near-infrared region, all the samples still have certain absorption. The film electrodes are stable in 3.5%NaCl aqueous solution, and are feasible for electrochemical tests.Three-electrode system was adopted to learn the electrochemical behavior of the film electrodes in 3.5%NaCl aqueous solution, so as to excite the photocatalyst with electric energy and investigate the response. Within the scanning potential range of -1.84V, there are two oxidation peaks and one reduction current on the cyclic voltammetry (CV) curves.
