As one of novel media, ionic liquids could be used as the catalyst in the process of alkylation of isobutene and butane with high activity. The advantage of ionic liquid as catalyst was that the product with high quality could be easily separated with high purity and the catalyst could be reused. However, the selectivity for TMP (trimethylpentane) was remarkably lower than that in concentrated sulfur acid catalyst. To improve the catalyzing properties of ionic liquid, compounds with possessed lone pair electrons were added in the 2AlCl3/Et3NHCl ionic liquid as additives.Different additives were added in the ionic liquid synthesized by anhydrous AlCl3 and triethylamine hydrochloride according to the mol ratio of 2:1 respectively to get different modified ionic liquids. The catalyzing properties of different ionic liquids were investigated in an autoclave with stirring equipment. The experiments results indicated that the addition of aromatics such as benzene and alkyl benzene could apparently improve the catalytic performance of ionic liquid. The selectivity of C8 in alkylates could reach 76%, and the ratio of TMP (trimethylpentane) to DMH (dimethylhexane) in C8 was 8.0. The quality of product obtained by modified ionic liquids was near to those obtained by concentrated sulfur acid. Alkylation of isobutane and 2-butene catalyzed by solid AlCl3 was investigated. After addition of benzene into solid AlCl3, the catalytic performance was improved apparently and result...
