The alkylation of isobutane with butene is very important for the production of reformulated gasoline. Over the past decade, chloroaluminate ionic liquids are used as catalysts in isobutane/butene alkylation reaction. Nevertheless, chloroaluminate ionic liquids are very sensitive to hydrolysis. As a result, it is difficult to control the acidity of these ionic liquids. In this dissertation, non-chloroaluminate ionic liquids were chosen as the main subject and the process of the alkylation of isobutene with butane catalyzed by non-chloroaluminate ionic liquids was investigated.Firstly, some non SO3H-functionalized ionic liquids and SO3H-functionalized ionic liquids were prepared. The catalytic performances of these ionic liquids for alkylation of isobutane with butene were evaluated in a batch unit. The experimental results indicated that the catalytic selectivity of non SO3H-functionalized ionic liquids prepared was lower for the alkylation of isobutene with butene. In contrast, the catalytic selection of SO3H-functionalized ionic liquids prepared was improved for the alkylation. When introduced SO3H-to [BMIM] the C8 contents of [MBSIM]OTf and [MBSIM]HSO4 were separately improved up to 66.8% and 43.9%, and the C8 contents of [BMIM]OTf and [BMIM]HSO4 were 39.1% and 38.4%.In order to improve the catalytic performances of SO3H-functionalized ionic liquids, CuSO4 and Cu(OTf)2 were introduced into the ionic liquids to modify the ionic liquids. The experimental results showed that the catalytic performances of SO3H-functionalized ionic liquids were improved distinctly in the presences of the additives mentioned above. And the catalytic performances of binary mixtures systems were also improved for the alkylation. The catalytic selectivity of the system was improved evidently.
