Ebonite is one kind of rubber with high modulus, hardness and strength. However, its application is limited because of its poor thermal resistance and just used in the field of anti-corruption, insulation and large shells. The aim of this paper is to illustrate the mechanism of thermal deformation and to obtain an ebonite with improved properties by investigating the structure and properties of ebonite.Reasonable vulcanization process was obtained by researching the effect of process parameters including curing temperature and time on the mechanical properties of hard rubber. With the help of dynamic mechanical thermal analysis(DMTA), differential thermal analysis(DSC), analysis of curing behaviors and swelling test, the change of structure during the vulcanization of ebonite was analyzed. It is found that the chemical cross-linking in the ebonite trended to descend with degree of vulcanization, while the modification effects of polar groupings on the carbon backbone gradually increased, which dominated its physical and mechanical properties.Clay/ebonite nanocomposites were prepared by co-coagulating rubber latex and clay/water suspension. TEM and XRD were used to...
