The synthesis condition of chlorinated trans-1,4-polyisoprene (CTPI) by an aqueous suspension method under acid environment was studied in this article.CTPI with certain chlorine content was prepared by the chlorination in use of the TPI particles with loosen powder character synthesized in our laboratory. The results of experiments indicated that as the temperature increased, the chlorine content of CTPI enhanced with its climax at 50 °C, then up this temperature, the auxiliary reaction increased while the chlorine content decreased,so this high temperature was not advised to adopt, while with the time prolonged, the chlorine content increased slowly.when the reaction condition was similar, the chlorine content of CTPI through changing temperature was much higher than that under a certain temperature with the same reaction time.So the more suitable reaction condition of CTPI by aqueous suspension method would be the two-step of the temperature in acid condition and continuous-pumping chlorine gas. After reaction for some time at 35°C,and then increased the temperature to 50°C to react for a long time,CTPI in loosen powder particles with chlorine content less than 65% would be gotten. The measurement of chlorine content was studied, too. The results show that the Volhard's method is reliable with strong feedback and good repetition as well as the convenience of response to the changing law of chlorine content.Comparing with it,the weighting method is easily affected by outside with imprecise result and difficult dryness, long dryness time as well as easy-aging CTPI production. The chlorination kinetics of TPI in aqueous suspension was studied by the methods of chemical analysis and regression analysis. The results show that the chlorination degree(y)could be predicted from the chlorination time(x),with the empirical formulation...
