Nanostructured WC/Co coating is a novel type of engineering material that have been developed widely in home and aboard in recent years, its excellent properties such as high hardness, high resistance to abrasion, low pore-rate, anti-oxidation make it have very extensive application perspectives in engineering. This paper deals with the precision grinding mechanisms and the wear performance of ground samples for nanostructured WC/Co coating. It put forward the grinding mechanisms and wear mechanisms of nanoatructured WC/Co coatings through experimental investigation, theoretical modeling and analysis. Little research on the wear performance of ground nanostructured WC/Co coating has done in home and abroad, the research work in this regard has a certain theoretical and practical value. This paper firstly puts forward the preliminary analysis for grinding mechanisms of nanoatructured ceramic coatings, and introduces the summarization of ceramic wear performance and related research methods based on the literature reviews. According to the research aim, it puts forward the scheme and detailedly introduces the scheme for the experimental study in grinding and wear of nanoatructured WC/Co coating. This paper carries out detail experiment for the precision grinding process of thermally sprayed nanostructured WC/Co coating with homemade diamond grinding wheels in surface grinder. It analyzes how the grinding parameters such as grinding depth, feedrate of workpiece, grinding wheel characteristic influence on ground surface roughness. It turns out that surface roughness increase with feedrate of workpiece and grain size, with the grinding depth increase, surface roughness decrease firstly and and then increase. The largest factor that influences the surface roughness is grain size. Surface roughness of the samples ground by the vitrified grinding wheel is better than by resinoid grinding wheel. The material removal mechanisms is mostly inelastic deformation, which is primarily plastic deformation, brittle removal is little.Subsequently frictional and wear tests of the ground samples which match quenching 45 steel have done by pin-disk type. It is evaluate the wear rate of the samples. This paper analyzes the influence of grinding parameters on the wear performance of ground nanostuctured WC/Co coating and establishes the mathematical models based on the wear experimental data. It turns out that the wear rate of ground samples increase with grinding depth and feedrate of workpiece and...
