Blades are the key parts of the gas turbine. The material used for making blades has many excellent performances such as high intensity, corrosion resistance and temperature resistant. In the 1930's, many countries began to use the stainless steel with 12% Cr to manufacture gas turbine blades, however,with the development of manufacturing technology, more and more manufacturers began to use katogene and sclerotic martensite stainless steel, like 17-4PH, as the material of gas turbine blades. Titanium alloy was used to made blades if there were some special requirements. Coated abrasive belt grinding, as an important branch of grinding technology, has many excellent performances, like high efficiency, little vibration and low temperature, and it is widely used in the grinding, lapping and polishing of many kinds of metal and nonmetal material.â‘ Three kinds of material including 17-4PH, 410 stainless and TC4 have been chosen as the research object. The grinding capabilities of coated abrasive belt in grinding these three material have been studied.Firstly, the domestic and foreign research actualities were collected and concluded. The grind ability of some typical material were analyzed in this thesis. On the basis of our former research, the abrasive belt grinding process was studied after designing the belt-grinding device and coolant system. Considering the machining requirements of gas turbine blades surface, some main evaluating indicators of abrasive belt grind ability were brought forward. Secondly, the experiments of material removal rate of three typical material were finished, and the relationships of material removal rate, belt wear and grinding parameters, species of abrasive, contact wheel and grinding coolant were studied. At last, the microstructure of workpieces after grinding and abrasion of belts were observed by using the SEM, and the basic precision model of elastic abrasive belt grind gas turbine blades surface was established.â‘¡The results indicated that ceramic grain belt has high and steady material removal rate, and it is feasible to grind 17-4PH stainless material in big depth with this belt, but choosing an appropriate grinding depth is very important to keep the abrasive belt with high efficiency.
