Epoxide hydrolase stereoselectively hyrolyzes epoxy substrates to pure optical epoxides and vicinal diols. The producs are important synthesization intermediates in pharmaceutical, pesticide, spicery and fine chemical industries. Producing chiral epoxides and vicinal diols by means of enzymes is a very attractive method, which has high stereoselectivity, and is good for environment. Searching new enzyme source from microbe is the focus in this field.
