The paper based on the sintering and fractal theory. The metallurgic characteristic of sinter was researched with sintering cup and mini-sintering machine respectively in laboratory. It analyzed the influence of different technical parameter on the microstructure and metallurgic of sinter, then quantificationally discussed the distribution characteristics of the granularity,micro-pore and grain of sinter, after that build up the relationship between the microstructure and metallurgic characteristic of sinter.The research was focus on the following aspects: the study of mineral composition and microstructure of sinter by OM, SEM, mercury intrusion machine etc; the facture of mini-sintering machine; the exploitation of compute software of fractal dimension and the study of the distribution characteristic of the granularity,micro-pore and grain of sinter. The study result showed as follows: the fractal characteristic of the granularity distribution of sinter is distinct, fractal dimension is valid to quantificationally describe the granularity distribution of sinter with low SiO2. Fractal dimension shows the characteristic of the quality percentage and the centralize,equality degree of the granularity composing. We can suppose the grade compound of the sinter by the granularity distribution curves and datasheets; meanwhile, we build up the relationship between the fractal dimension and the ore blending condition, also the metallurgic characteristic of sinter.The micro-pore of sinter also has fractal characteristic. Most of the samples put up subsection linear character except a few fulfill unitary linear. This shows that some of the micro-pore of sinter is chaos body, which has multiple self-comparable characters. When the pore size is very small, the fractal curves of sinter put up non-fractal characteristic. By the analysis of this section of curve, we can build up the relationship between the intensity of sinter and the fractal dimension of the pore structure.The result of the photo dispose to mini-sintering samples showed that the fractal characteristic of grain distribution of sinter is distinct. The fractal dimension can quantificationally token the uniformity degree of the grain distribution of the sinter. At the same time, we researched and designed the software to compute fractal dimension so as to provide an efficiency measure fore the nicety description of the microstructure of sinter.
