Isolation and purification of water-soluble polysaccharides in Rhodomyrtus tomentosa were studied. Methods for the polysaccharides extraction and purification, characters of composition and constitutes of monosaccharide were investigated. After the material was degreased by organic solvent, polysaccharides were extracted by cold water and then hot water. Protein was removed by sevage method and polysaccharides were subsided by grain alcohol.After be freeze-dried ,the crude polysaccharides wad used to analyze the content of sugar , galacturonic acid and protein. Then analyzed the glycosyl composition by Gas-liquid chromatography.The results compared with air-dried fruits indicated that the pectin was broken down during the drying course. TLC analysis showed that the basis of CWs (monosaccharide extracted by cold water) and HWs(mono-saccharide extracted by hot water) is galactose and arabinose.
