In this paper, the migration characteristic of carboxymethyl chitosan film was studied, including the wetting performance, the migration of gas (i.e. H2O, O2 and CO2) and the migration of solid(i.e. sodium benzoate). In addition, the preliminary application of carboxymethyl chitosan on litchi preservation was studied.1. The wetting ability of carboxymethyl chitosan solution on the olefin medium was poor and the contact angle between carboxymethyl chitosan solution and olefin was 101°. The wetting agent sodium dodecylsulfate was founded to have best wetting performance and the most excellent applying method was worked out by trial and error. The results indicated: when 0.03% sodium dodecylsulfate was added to 2.0% carboxymethyl chitosan solution, the contact angle decreased to 49°, the surface tension of chitosan solution declined from 62.8 × 10-3N/m to 33.1 × 10-3N/m.2. The H2O permeability of carboxymethyl chitosan film increased with the increment of film thickness. But, small amount of sodium benzoate had little effect on the H2O permeability. In the range of research temperature of this...
