This paper mostly researches the raw material preparation of magnesium alloy semi-solid injection molding. With AZ91D alloy, the magnesium alloy chips using in Thixomolding are prepared and researched by lathe and milling machine with different turning tools and different parameters. According to the plastic injection and hot chamber die-casting mould, a suit of mould of magnesium alloy semi-solid injection is designed. For change the equipment from plastic injection machine, which is in vogue in our country, to the magnesium alloy semi-solid injection machine, the machine alteration of 200g plastic injection is designed and researched based on the parameters of magnesium alloy semi-solid injection machine produced by Japan Steel Work.The best turning tools and parameters of lathe manufacturing magnesium alloy chips are the 31003C with depth of cut 3.5mm and amount of feed 0.4mm, and the 31303C with depth of cut 3 mm and amount of feed 0.3mm. With this two kinds of turning tools and parameters, the ideal magnesium alloy chips can be obtained. The method to manufacture magnesium alloy chips with lathe is simple without high demand for equipment. To manufacture magnesium alloy chips by milling machine is also researched. The process is comparatively complex. But compared with lathe, this process needs not melting the magnesium alloy ingot.The key part to alter the plastic injection machine is about the injection speed. Because of the lack of injection speed, two series of hydraulic pressure system are designed. One is speediness loop system of hydraulic cylinder by differential link.
