Nowadays, liquid crystal display is extensively applied for scientific research ,our daily life and industry. And mostly liquid crystal display devices need uniform alignment of liquid crystal molecule in microstructure. Rubbing technology is most widely used in industry in a long-time. However with the enhancement display performance's request, rubbing process induced many drawbacks can't be ignored again. These drawbacks such as dust particles, electrostatic charge and groove have seriously reduced the productivity of LC displays. So, photo-aligning technique becomes focus of alignment control of liquid crystal molecules. It is contact-free and can avoid those disadvantages of rubbing method, moreover, it is easy for large area's alignment.The photoalignment induces alignment of liquid crystal molecules by photo--sensitive compound whose linear polarize ultraviolet light excitated and come into been anisotropy. Poor thermal stability and weak anchoring is the bottleneck of photo-aligning. In this paper, photo alignment technology and reference parametermeasure method are researched based double azo-dye——sy03 used as alignmentmaterial. Electrooptical response of the cell aligned by sy03 azo dye alignment layer is measured and it satisfies the generic display's demand.
