Along with the fast development of modern industry, the demand to iron-based composites was increasing, and the preparation was regarded widely. Combustion synthesis, which is a kind of methods of preparing iron-based composites, developed rapidly in recent years. VC is the ideal reinforcement in iron-based composites. By far, reports about the research of combustion synthesis of VC reinforced iron-based composites under an electric field are few.In this paper, the thermal simulation instrument Gleeble-1500D was used in this experiment. When the experiment started, several parameters, which included the preset heating rate, the preset maximal temperature and heat-preservation temperature etc, were set in the instrument. Then according to this parameters, the instrument controlled the heating rate of samples via controlling the current of samples until the combustion synthesis of the system was completed. In this experiment, the effect of the electric field was not only supplying Joule heat to system, but also excitating and maintaining the synthesis reaction, so the ignition was not needed. After completing the experiment of combustion synthesis, the products'phase was analyzed using D/Max-IIIA X-ray diffraction aparatus which made in Japan, and the microstructure and morphology were identified by...
