In this paper, a new thermoplastic elastomer , ethylene-octene copolymer(POE), was selected as toughening agent, superfine talc and silica as reinforcements. The conventional reinforcing techniques by inorganic particles and toughening method by new polyolefin elastomer were look into consideration. Polypropylene (PP) composites were obtained by melting-mixing technics in a twin-screw extruder. At the same time, the mechanical and rheological properties of POE thermoplastic elastomers with the elastomer of POE as the matrix were investigated, and the strength of the POE materials was improved by adding inorganic filler (talc and silica). The effects of POE content on mechanical properties and melt viscosity of PP1 (K7008)/POE and PP2 (K7726)/POE blends were studied. The toughness of PP2 was greatly improved with increasing POE, and brittle-tough transition of PP2 happened when POE content reached to 15 percent. The comprehensive properties of PP2/POE(80/20) blend were preferable to other compositions. The rheological properties of PP/POE (80/20) systems indicated that PP2/POE binary blends had a favorable shearing sensitivity with comparation to PP1/POE, causing excellent...
