The shortage of energy and environmental pollution has become more and more serious with rapid growth of population. At the same time, large amounts of wastes were produced. In the present, the recycling technology, by which the environmental pollution could be relived, has received much more attention all over the world. It is expected that such research could provide important social and economic benifits. The catalytic pyrolysis of polypropylene and co-pyrolysis of polypropylene and several types of biomass mixtures have been carried out in a laboratory scale semi-batch fixed reactor. The biomass adopted mainly included four kinds of plants, namely, Phyllostachys pubescens, Sinocalamus affinis, rice husk and wheat straw. The thermal behaviour of polypropylene, biomass and the PP/ Phyllostachys pubescens mixture were firstly studied by thermogravimetry (TG). The TG and DTG curves showed that the weight-lose of different biomass decrease as the following sequence: Sinocalamus affinis> Phyllostachys pubescens> wheat straw>rice husk; and polypropylene degrades at higher temperature (in the temperature range of 400~480℃). The interaction or influences between PP and Phyllostachys pubescens were found in the TG and DTG curves of the co-pyrolysis of the mixture. The industrial components as well as the content of cellulose, hemi-cellulose and lignin in different biomass were determined chemically.Based on the above result of TG experiments, the catalytic pyrolysis of...
