In this article, flame-resistant mechanism of the char-forming flame retardant as TPPFR/TPP blend was expounded firstly. FT-IR, thermogravi- metry, and py-GC/MS were employed to analyze the chemical reactions of the flame retardant at different thermal phases. Meanwhile, further investigations were studied via FT-IR spectra of the char and soot after burning of the flame-retardant system as well as the kinetic data of thermal degradation. Furthermore, chemical analysis of phosphorus in burnt char showed the restraining effect of TPPFR on the volatilization of TPP, and the enhancement of the char-forming ratio.In the next place, a novel silicone-containing epoxide monomer was synthesized via S_n1 substitution, and its chemical structure was substantiated through FT-IR and UV curves. Also, effects of reaction temperature, time,' and the concentration of the catalyst on the yielding rate of DGDPS were discussed, and consequently, optimal reaction situations were obtained.
