Along with the enhancement of health consciousness, the way to reduce tar content of cigarette and mainstream smoke, and to promote smoking security has become the focus of the tobacco and its correlative industry. The situation and primary techniques of reducing tobacco harm were summarized, the important role of filter tip in reducing tar was discussed. The article gave empHasis to surface modification of acetate fiber, increase the specific surface area and improve the filtration of acetate filter tip through the technique of cellulase enzyme and low temperature plasma. Therefore, a new approach to reduce tar and harm of cigarette was put forward.Both enzyme technique and plasma treatment are environmentfriendly means in superficial disposal. Both mechanism of treating separately and together in dispose acetate fiber was studied. Meanwhile, evaluating methods such as airflow evaluation,methylene blue method,SEM picture,infrared spectrum and contact angle was adopted to analyze the changes of surface performance, thus reflect filtration's improvement indirectly.Notch and groove were produced on fiber's surface by plasma's pHysical bump and corrasion, meanwhile oxygenic or nitrogenic radicals were also grafted on the surface. Through hydrolyzation, acetate fiber's surface will be denuded by cellulase enzyme. Surface of the fiber will be granulated and specific surface area will be enlarged by plasma and enzyme treatment, therefore obviously improve fiber's surface performance. Experiment result show that cellulase enzyme and low temperature plasma have a notable effect in improving acetate fiber's surface performance. Since a better reaction condition will be offered by plasma pretreatment, combined treatment of the two confers a better performance improvement.
