With the economy development of our country, the Ningxia province, as one of the regions of developing the western, advances quickly in economy, too. For one of the provinces with rich coal, its coal industry is the major.Recently, the investment of many kinds of engineering buildings in the region, made the requirement to coal increase. During "the tenth five-year", the buildings of power plants made the coal demand increase 5.40 million tones, and in "the eleventh five-year", it will increase 34.20 million tones. So, for fitting for the coal requirement in Ningxia, the advanced mining methods should be chosen. The fully-mechanized caving face is a relatively new method, and is a development direction for thick coal mining.The Ci Yaopu is a combination and rebuilt mine. The high toughness of the 2~# coal makes against the application of fully-mechanized caving face. The feasibility and mining technology of the 2~# coal's mining method is studied in this paper. By numerical simulation and contrast analysis, it can be concluded that the top-coal can fall with the mining after it is weakened. Besides, the coal has self-ignite character, but it can be mined safely after taking effective measures. On the basis of the feasibility, the mining parameter and art are studied and defined. The cutting depth of the shearer in the working face is defined of 0.8m, and the relationship between the shearer and support is one cut one falling. Using the statistics analogy, estimate and numerical simulation method, the working resistance of the mid support can be defined of 5431-6206 kN, and the ZFS5800/18/32 type support is chosen. At the same time, the type of the shearer and other transport equipment are chosen reasonably.
