Novel technologies for intensifying chemical engineering processes are expected to bring dramatic improvement in reducing the size of equipment and plant, and leading to compact, safe, clean and effective production. These new technologies, which may be applicable to the development of chemical industry in 21st century, are proposed. Structured catalysts, which are uni-body structures composed of interconnected cells or channeles, are widely used because of low pressure drop and high gas fluxes, and increasingly in many new reactors application such as chemical and refining process, catalytic combustion, and high exothermic/endothermic reaction coupling. For methane catalytic combustion high exothermic system, the traditional noble metal catalysts are adopted and have the shortcoming of high cost and bad high-temperature stability. On the other hand, metal-oxide catalysts have good activity and stability in methane catalytic combustion and are much cheaper. Therefore, it is a challenge and full opportunities in exploring excellent metal-oxide catalytic combustion material.
