A series of supported tungsten phosphide catalysts were prepared by the method of temperature-programmed reduction of phospho-tungstate in hydrogen. And They were characterized by XRD,BET,NH3-TPD, XPS and TG/DTA. The HDS and HDN activities of the catalysts were tested by thiophene,pyridine, dibenzothiophene, or carbazole as the model compounds. The effect of preparation method and its loading condition, promoter, and support on the structure and catalytic activity was investigated. The best conditions of calcination, activation, and the path ways of dibenzothiophene HDS and carbazole HDN on supported tungsten phosphide catalyst were all studied. The sulphur-resistant ability of the catalyst was also discussed here.
