The selective laser sintering (SLS) system and the Polymer/Layered Silicate material have a very wide application in future, but the reports on PLS nano-composite prepared by SLS is few in home and abroad. A new practical method is brought forward on this paper that the selective laser sintering is supposed to make Polymer/Layered Silicate (PLS).In this paper based on application of PS/nona-montmorillonite composites, a lot of basic experiments using laser sintering have been made to make sure whether PS/ nano-montmorillonite composites can be prepared by SLS. The rule is analysed that the sintering parameter influences on the mechanical properties of PS/nano-montmorillonite composites. For Investigating effects of nona-montmorillonite in plastic products by layer sintering, the contrast of the thermal and mechanical properties between PS and PLS. The research work in this paper has a certain theoretical and practical significance.The simple introduction is done about the SLS and PLS on the basis of the literature review. According to the purpose,the research project is confirmed. There is a detailed introduction about the experiment project and testing method of the PS/ nano-montmorillonite composites prepared by SLS.The experimental material is the blend of PS and nano-montmorillonite powder, in which the mass fraction of nano-montmorillonite is 5%. The structure of the sintering piece is characterized by the use of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and the thermal and mechanical properties of the sintering pieces are tested by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Mechanics testing device. The results show that the nano-montmorillonite is intercalated by PS during the sintering process, and the PS/nano-montmorillonite composites is born; Compared with the PS, the mechanical properties of the composites is decline, but thermal stabilities are improved, and the thermal decomposition is a temperature increase of 18℃.The sintering mechanism of PLS by the use of SLS is investigated theoretically. The effect of the sintering parameters is analyzed. The results indicate that while other parameters are certain, the mechanical properties of PS/nano-montmorillonite composites increase along with the laser power increase, but go down with the scanning velocity increase.The next target for the investigation on PS/nano-montmorillonite composites...
