Magadiite is a two-dimensional layered silicate which can be applied in intercalation materials and raw material of synthesis of zeolites.Intercalation is an effective method for Magadiite to change its properties, which is one of the research hotspots in the world. While utile now there has been no report about the metal chelates intercalated into the layers of Magadiite by solid phase intercalation. In this paper some chelates were intercalated into the layers of Magadiite and the structure, morphology and the formation mechanism were discussed. The solid-solid reaction was easy to operate and the products could be used in optics field, which also possesses good environmental protection property. The study of reaction mechanism was worthy for the design and synthesis of new Nano-composite materials.Calcein was successfully intercalated into the layers of Metal-magadiites(M-magadiites,M=Al,Zn,Ca).The results demonstrated that calcein molecules had entered the layers of M-Magadiite by the chelation reaction of metal ions in the layers and the organic ligands. The spacing between the layers was decided by the exchanged metal ions and intercalated calcein. The different structures were resulted by the molecule arrangement of coordination compounds in the layers. The products showed luminescent property.8-Hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid(8HqS)was successfully intercalated into the layers of M-magadiites(M=Al,Zn,Ca).M-8HqS metal chelates were formed in the layers of M-Magadiite after intercalation. The metal chelates have different microstructures and molecule arrangement modes. The different quantity of 8HqS exit in layers was decided by the capacity and coordination ability of metal ions. The strength order of coordination ability of the metals is Ca2+>Zn2+>Al3+.10-Hydroxybenzo quinoline(HBQ)was successfully intercalated into the layers of M-magadiites(M=Al,Cr,Cu).The spacing between the layers increased after intercalated. The strength order of coordination ability of the metals is Cu2+>Cr2+>Al3+.The shifts of absorption and fluorescence were resulted by interaction of host-guest and the difference of metal chelates structures, especially the arrangement mode of metal chelates in the layers of Magadiite.
