The super absorbent resin is a newly developed functional macromolecule material in recent 30 years. It is applied widely in many domains such as: agriculture, horticulture, medical treatment, sanitation, architecture, commodity, grocery and environment. On the basis of reviewing the synthesis and application of super absorbent, especially on IPN absorbent, a series of amphoteric IPN absorbent resins were synthesized, as well as their capacities were studied. The main contents include:Amphoteric semi-IPN absorbent AA/PDMDAAC were synthesized by sequential polymerization with acrylic acid (AA) as a monomer and poly (diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDADAAC) as a liner polymer, N, N'-methylenebis-acrylamide as a crosslinker and ammonium persulfate as a initiator. Three kinds of AA/PDMDAAC absorbents with different mass ratio were synthesized. The absorbing capacity in different salt solutions and pH solutions was studied.Considering the–SO3 group can improve the saline-resistance, amphoteric semi-IPN absorbent AA/SAS/PDMDAAC were synthesized by sequential polymerization with acrylic acid (AA) and sodium allylsulfonate (SAS) as a liner monomer, poly (diallyldimethylammonium chloride) as polymer. The influences of synthetic variables including mass fraction of initiator and crosslinker, mass ratio of AA/ SAS and anionic monomers/cationic polymer, temperature, neutralization degree of acrylic acid on the swelling of hydrogel were studied in detail. The absorbing capacity in different salt solutions, pH solutions and neutral red dye was studied. Besides, the swelling kinetics, absorbent capacity under load and absorbing reversibility were investigated.
