The fire modeling study is currently a fundamental methodology in modern fire safety engineering. On the base of the fire combustion theory and integrating mighty compute capability of computer, it can simulate the fire's generation and development process by using advanced computer software and get fire scene's kinds of physics parameters' variability with time, which offer theory basis to governance and rescue of fire. The research is the most animated topic in the fire science domain.Basic of field model method, the paper simulates a coal gas leakage fire's developing process in a kitchen of civil building by using FLUENT, one of computational fluid dynamics software, where applicable boundary conditions, variable density grid and step by step precision algorithm are applied. During the course of numerical simulating, it adapts non-premixed combustion model and adds on the k-ε turbulence model and the P-1 radiation model by in-depth studing to fluid dynamics model and combustion model. In addition, the paper also analyses the state of smoke diffusion under the different conditions of jet time, jet flux and jet situation in the fire room and shows on the fire's generation and development process. In view of the fire modeling result, the paper studies on the coal gas leakage fire's prevention and cure methods in a civil building, such as a kitchen's performance-based design, the coal gas fire's governance and rescue etc. All these are helpful to direct practice. The research in the paper is useful in the field of fire safety education, the command for fire protection, performance-based design for building and setting evacuation plan for any emergent situations.
