In this paper, titania/bentonite catalysts prepared by acid-catalyzed sol method is used as a photocatalyst in the photo degradation of dye pollutants in waste water. We prepared titanium dioxide photocatalyst loaded on bentonite (Xinghe of Inner-Mongolia) with tetrabutyl titanate as titanium source. The effect of heating temperature and the loading amount of TiO2 were researched. The catalytic activity were checked by degradation rate and COD changed rate of Rhadamine B under UV light irradiation (high pressure mercury lamp) using P25 and TiO2/bentonite catalysts. COD(Chemical oxygen demand) values are measured by the dichromate titration method (referred as CODcr). The catalysts are characterized by the method of UV-vis, XRD, BET, TG-DTA, ESR, DRS et al. The experimental results showed that titania/bentonite catalyst had a higher photocatalytic activity and a larger specific area when calcination temperature is 400℃ and TiO2 loading is 50%. Furthermore, the COD changed rate of Rhadamine B is 99.7% and 97.2% under UV light irradiation of 3h using P25 and TiO2/bentonite catalyst(Ti400), respectively. The COD changed rate of Rhadamine B is 68.6%and 77.1% under visible light irradiation of 30h using P25 and TiO2/bentonite catalyst(Ti400), respectively. TiO2/bentonite catalysts can be...
