A Critical Study On Eco-Socialism

Eco—socialism was a radical leftist thought, which emerged in the 1970s in western countries, it was the result of connecting modern western ecological movement and socialistic thought. This article will systematically analyze eco—socialism and in the first place will completely expose the relationship between eco—socialism and Marxism. In the second, I will show eco—socialism's critique of modern capitalism on the ground of the globalization. Eco—socialism insists on: Firstly, capitalism crisis is essentially the environmental crisis, which has replaced economic crisis and become the principal crisis. Secondly, in capitalism, the only purpose of producing is to pursue profit, which makes nature become the origination of profit and so the origination of environmental crisis. Thirdly, the way of resolving the environmental crisis problem is to thoroughly reform the capitalism and substitute capitalism for socialism, of course, this socialism means eco—socialism.Eco—socialism theory, from a special angle, puts forward a series of thoughtful particular opinions, which have important theoretical and practical significance, not only for realizing modern capitalism's nature, but also for improving our environmental awareness and make effective environmental policies. But this theory also has theoretical defects; we can't say we have found a practical approach for defeat capitalism. By mastering this theory synthetically, we can abandon its defects, absorb its advantages and make it serve our country's construction.
