In the paper, the prepolymerization of polyurethane, the technology of castor oil modified and the reaction kinetics of the castor oil-based polyurethane/polystyrene interpenetrating polymer networks (COPU/PS IPNs) were studied in detail. On these bases, the composites of COPU/PS IPNs and COPU/PS IPNs compounded with crosslinking polymer microbeads (CPMB) were prepared.The studies of reaction kinetics of COPU/PS IPNs showed that the reacting rate constant decreased with the content of styrene, and the reacting activation energy between isocyanate and alcohol in COPU/PS IPNs was much higher than that of COPU; Catalyst affected the reacting rate of styrene polymerization slightly at the initial interpenetrating polymerization, but in the course of reaction, the polymerization rate of St...
