The method for the determination of hexane extraction and melt flow rate in the polypropylene by near-infrared diffusion reflectance spectrum technology was studied. The spectrum and melt flow rate , hexane extraction concentration of the samples were tested by NIR and standard method respectively. In order to set up models, 30 representative samples were chosen. The mathematics models were established by partial least square (PLS) algorithm and were checked up with inner cross validation.In this study the whole course of getting information and factors of affecting information quality were investigated scientifically over the experiment procedures and instrumental setting. The best state including the particle size, homogenization, loading amount, the compactness of the samples and resolution ratio, scanning time, the spectral region, spectral pretreatment of the instrument was selected, the results as follows:The particle size of the samples was less than 60 mesh . In order to improve homogenization, the sample cell must be rotated.
