Since the advent of virtual technology, there has been a great deal of interests in the applications of that technology of human body modeling and deformation. GCAD (Garment CAD) is one of the most important applications of virtual human. The thesis implements human reconstruction and deformation basing on the demands of GCAD.Our research aims at standard models used for garment design and real-life human body. Computer representation of these models is the basis of human reconstruction. In chapter 2, several types of real-life model are introduced. These models will be scanned by a 3D scanning system, and described by triangular mesh in the system. The scanned data should be preprocessed before human modeling, including coordinate transformation, recognition of feature points and mannequin type.However, the scanned data is inconvenient for human deformation and garment design. Converting scanned body whose cloud points are connected by trianglar mesh to new model with regular topology is the target of human reconstruction. In chapter 3, an easy way to construct personalized mannequin from scanned body data is presented. Based on feature points of the model, cutting planes are allocated to get section contours of scanned body, and regenerate the triangle mesh of mannequin with uniform sizes and regular topology. Mannequin skin will be smoothed after surface reconstruction. Feature lines and points will also be created on new surface.Research of human deformation and animation is also the key point of this thesis. Arithmetic of sizing deformation and human animation will be demonstrated separately in chapter 4. There are two different methods for sizing deformation. Select suitable one for different type of human model. On the other hand, joints of the body skeleton are extracted to realize simplified animation of human body.Based on the above research, LookStailorX system frame is introduced in chapter 5. Brief introduction on development environment of this system and detailed description on application of the above research in LookStailorX system are provided as well.Finally, chapter 6 includes a summary of the author's research and the prospects, separately from the perspectives of technology and application, of this project.
