9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO for short) is a novel reactive flame retardant intermediate. The polymers containing it and its derivates have effective thermal stability and flame retardance. It can be used in electronic materials and synthetic fibers, further in semiconducter-sealing.In this paper, we focus on the discussion about the addition compounds by the reaction of DOPO with some compounds (e.g. maleic acid,p-benzoquinone,2-butene-1,4-diol).In the reaction of DOPO with BQ, factors which affect the product yield are discussed, such as mol ratio of raw material, solution amount , addition time of material, reaction temperature, reaction time. Best conditions for the addition reaction are investigated in orthogonal test. The experimental results indicate that the best conditions is: solution amount 30ml, ratio of n(DOPO): n(BQ) is 1.2, reaction time 2.0h, reaction temperature 90 ℃ and addition time of material 1.5~2.0h.Factors which affect the product yield of the reaction of DOPO with MA are also discussed, such as mol ratio of raw material, reaction temperature and reaction time. The experimental results show that the yield is higher when reaction time is 1.5h, reaction temperature is 146℃ and ratio of raw material is 1.1:1.At last, the reaction possibility of DOPO with 2-butene-1,4-diol are further studied. The results indicate that nucleophilic addition reaction of this kind diol with the carbon -carbon duplet bond such as DOPO can't react easily.
