In order to achieve progressive solidification for roll, the test equipment of electromagnetic hemicontinuous compound casting has been designed. The process parameter has been studied systematically and optimized by means of using the test equipment. High chromium cast iron and high vanadium high speed steel have been used as composite layer materials and No.45 steel has been used as axes material in the experiment. The interfaces of high vanadium high speed steel and high chromium cast iron rolls have been observed and the line scanning has been made also by SEM that mode number is JSM—5160LV. The distributing of elements has been analyzed in bonding pad by line scanning curve. The hardness distributing near bonding pad and strength of interface have been studied. The interface structure and bonding mechanism of electromagnetic hemicontinuous double pouring casting roll have been analyzed. At the end, the solidification course and casting defects have been discussed.The results of optimal process parameter show that preheat power is 30kw for axes, preheat temperature is 600℃, casting temperature is 1430-1450℃, heat preservation period is 360-420 seconds, heat preservation power is 50kw, and falling speed is 1.33-1.56mm/s. The bonding pad of roll is composed by diffusion layer and normal solidification layer. There aren't chill solidification layer and directional growth layer. The bonding mechanism is mainly fusion...
