Chemical wastewater is very difficult to be treated because of its complex composition, high pollution. Anaerobic treatment is a pre-process to improve its bio-chemical properties and lower CODcr. Productive start-up of the anaerobic treatment to polyester wastewater is discussed in this paper. CODcr, pH, VFA, etc. were investigated within 6 months. In the first 2 months, no removal efficiency was happened in the anaerobic tank, and buffer capacity was almost zero.In the next 2 months, qualitative changes happened. CODcr removal efficiency was rapidly increased to 78%. CH4 flame was lighted. The anaerobic sludge was becoming granular. In the final 2 months, although the success of the start-up, the anaerobic process was not stable. CODcr removal efficiency was fluctuating.Combining the productive practice, some operative conditions need careful observation, because it is more complicated than that in the lab.
