With the development of military stealth technique and increasingly electromagnetic pollution, the application of absorbing materials is more and more comprehensive. In order to protect the health of all people and enhance survivable capability and fighting efficiency of weapons, the research and development of absorbing materials are considered very importance in the world. Absorbing material is a type of materials that absorb RF(Radio Frequency) energy when the electromagnetic wave illuminate on it. In the course of construction of anechoic chamber, it must measure performance of absorbing material so as to meet the test site with normal demand. Microwave anechoic chamber that is made of RF absorber can be applied to radar, communication, aviation and military stealth domain. There are methods on measuring RF absorber, such as arch test method (>1GHz), time domain method(30MHz~1GHz),and so on. Arch test method is characterized with briefness, economy, it also can be validated by other methods, so, it is widely used in the measurement of RF absorbing materials.The arch test system is mainly used in valuating absorbing performance of RF absorbers in free space. According to test data, we analysis the origin of the measured error, and obtain absorbers, application value from 1 GHz to 5 GHz.In the course of construction, we take the America navy standard (MIL-A-1716D)as our main design idea. At the base of theory design, we have constructed arch test system. We also use arch test system to measure RF absorbers, so as to validate the stability of the whole test system.
