In the world, the sulfide content in petroleum is increasing with each passing day. Meanwhile, with the aggravation of the environment, many countries put forward stricter and stricter criterion of sulfide content for oil products, such as gasoline, diesel oil etc. Consequently, the desulphurization technique is the hot spot in petroleum refinement industry. In recent years, it was reported that the SbSn intermetallic compound could remove sulfide and reduce asphaltene proportion at one time from petroleum under room temperature and normal pressure because of its special surface texture. This special function of SbSn compound has indicated a new research direction. In this study, SbSn intermetallic compound was prepared by fusion-spraying methodology and characterized with modern analytical techniques, including XRD,SEM etc. The experiments of desulphurization by SbSn from petroleum were carried out and several parameters which affect the efficiency of desulfurization were studied and optimized, including SbSn preparation temperature, content proportion of emulsified oils, quantities of added SbSn particles, processing time and SbSn grain size distribution. The reduction impact of asphaltene in petroleum was studied after the desulphurization process. According to the properties of residual substances on SbSn from desulphurization process, regeneration of the intermetallic compound was carried out and the corresponding effect was studied.Through the experiments of this paper, several conclusions are obtained as follows:(1) Of the SbSn material prepared under 900℃, a certain extent of Sb and Sn elementary substances exist besides the SbSn intermetallic compound. While, the material prepared above 900℃is pure intermetallic compound and the Sb and Sn elementary substances have disappeared. With the fusion time increased, the crystallinity of SbSn is also improved, the longer the fusion time is, the better the crystallinity is.(2) The SbSn intermetallic compound prepared at 950℃can remove the sulfide from petroleum with a favorable result and its capability of desulfurization is better than the materials prepared at 900, 1000, 1050℃. When the desulfurization process is carried on with petroleum directly or with the petrolic emulsion of oil-in-water...
