The laser technology is one of famous inventions with atom energy, semiconductors and computers technology in the last century. With its good characteristics, it has been used widely since it was invented. And due to these advantages, optical fiber plays an important role in the scientific technology, which is the media of the laser transmission.Glass is one of the material which is applied into producing optical fiber. The requirements for physical and chemical character are very high. So such glass is important in the research domain of the producing new functional glasses.In this article, based on the technology of producing optical fiber, in order to demand the requirement of the fiber's especial physical and chemical character, borosilicate glass system has been confirmed as a basic glass composition. The component optimizing principles have been put forward in point of making sure each oxide of the borosilicate glass by the method of computer programme. And in the basic borosilicate glass, we adopt other ions for example Zr 4+ to increase chemical stability of glass . The glass formation, structure and physical and chemical character were investigated by using DSC, FT-IR, NMR etc. to explain the relations during glass composition, structure, and characteristics. The material for producing clad layer of optical fiber glass is prepared successful.Glass-forming region is reduced, when we increase the content of other ion .Chemical stability of glass is variability with different component. SiO2,B2O3 adapt to 35-45%.It enhance chemical stability of glass, when we increase ratio of Al2O3.While the ratio of K2O,Na2O is very below, chemical stability of glass is very low.It is liability to separate out crystallization during drawing the optical fiber. There is no obvious apices in the curve of DSC. So the glasses have the good heat stability. The study on structure of the glass has a significant directive meaning to design glass compositions and optimization of prepared technique.
